Whew! It’s been a little while…
It’s much easier to write when there’s a larger-scale project going on, but in the midst of life at home a lot more with two very active toddlers, longer working hours and fewer activities together with others – it’s incredibly easy to sit and binge watch TV after the kids are in bed!
During this time when our couch is wearing many hats, you may find that you’re looking for a cozy spot that can also handle if you spill your coffee or wine after a long day. Enter, this cozy and functional sofa that is not only sustainable, but comes with an impressive 10-year warranty. It’ll stand up to whatever your kids can throw at it (literally) and still be comfy for family movie nights and pillow forts. Not sure? Order a set of swatches in the colors you like (up to 4) and try them out for yourself. Are you indecisive? This sofa makes it easy! Choose from one of 5 colors, and you’re set! *While not sponsored, I’ve done an incredible amount of research into what makes the right sofa for our family, and loved this one so much, that I had to write about it.
The right rug can really make the room. So, what’s the best option for durability that can be easily cleaned when those inevitable spills happen? Choosing a rug mainly composed of polypropylene is a great choice and is the typical composition for indoor/outdoor rugs. Blotting spills up as soon as possible ensures the best outcome, and if truly necessary – you can take the rug outside and clean it with the hose and let it dry in the sun.
Looking for a truly washable option? Ruggable is a personal favorite. As a mom of toddlers, I’m no stranger to accidents and the mounds of dog hair. I sweep off the rug and then throw it in the wash and it comes out of the dryer good as new! If you’re looking for a more plush option, check out the new shag lineup; these are currently available in sizes up to 6×9. I ordered a smaller 3×5 option for my little “studio space” and I suspect the dog is going to try and steal it, and I can’t blame him. A little spot of cozy underfoot is just what I need for my “inspiration spot”.
Ok, so we’ve covered the main pieces – what about all those toys and the mounds of school supplies? Let’s get some organization set up. Firstly, you’re going to want some tasteful storage. There are a multitude of options that are available at some larger retailers, such as Target (anyone else miss just roaming the aisles?), IKEA, and HomeGoods just to name a few. I have a favorite seagrass woven basket that has withstood much play and is still functioning well for toy storage. I wish I had bought more, because it’s just that good! I found some equally durable options that I’ll link below.
Let’s talk room set-up. It’s best to have a dedicated space to store toys and miscellaneous items. When we set an area of intention for those items, it gives an air of calm and organization that allows us to relax (hopefully) after the kids are in bed. I love to use baskets for these – it gives a cozy space to stash those items and it helps encourage children to pick up their toys. Even better!

See ya next time!
Cheers!
