Early Fall is when we have announcements of the latest “Color Of the Year.” While many are already picking up their pumpkin décor, my early Fall finds focus on selecting pieces thoughtfully for your home in a manner you can use year-round.
Have you seen the latest color of the year? We are all about warm nudes and earthy shades of brown. While not a favorite for some, you can find these shades as an accent in many homes, especially during the Fall season.
Along with warm shades, the texture is at play with fuzzy throws, brocade pillows, and soft velvets. My favorite way to mix up textures is with linen material and velvet. It creates a particular “je ne sais quoi” moment and invokes an inviting feel.
It’s getting darker earlier in the evening, so add additional lighting. It’s important to consider how you use the space, so think about task lighting and overall lighting to keep the mood consistent.
It’s candle season! If candles are your thing, be sure to create a safe place to burn your candles, and only allow them to burn for a maximum of four hours. Why? By keeping the maximum time in mind, you preserve the use and help it burn evenly – so you can enjoy it the most. Be sure to trim the wicks to 1/4″ before each use.
When selecting room décor, think about the overall purpose. A tray, for example, can be staged in several different ways and easily transferred to make room for entertaining. I love to use a clear tray and add a few decorative items inside to create a sense of atmosphere in an area. A clear tray over light wood tables invokes a clean and natural approach, while a white tray gives a more contemporary feel. I love a good bit of basket décor and handmade items, so go check out my friends at Life Inspirit – they just launched their Fall collection!
These are a few of my favorite finds that have been a great asset in keeping my new routine organized and our home running smoothly. It’s almost that time of year where entertaining is key! Checkout this post from last year on where to save and splurge!
